As well as the efficient removal of CO2 in Low Flow Anaesthesia there are two other issues of primary concern:
1 - Removal of toxic contaminants
2 - Preservation of the integrity of the flurane anaesthetic gas
In use these overlap. Degradation of flurane compounds can generate toxic residuals as well as reducing the performance of the flurane.
