Molecular Products Contributes to Mine Safety World-Wide

Molecular Products is recognised globally for its contribution to sustaining life in confined spaces, such as mine shelters and on board submarines. This is achieved by developing advanced chemical based technologies which purify air allowing a breathable atmosphere to be maintained.
Regular communication with leading legislative bodies, namely the Mine Safety Health Administration (MSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) via suppliers of refuge safety equipment, enabled Molecular Products to anticipate the technical product specifications required for today's demanding mining environments. Once the performance specifications were determined, a concept was developed and it wasn't long before the HiCapTM products evolved.
HiCapTM CO2, pre-filled large absorber cartridge is a sealed cartridge that allows efficient storage and use of Sofnolime®, which has proven capabilities for CO2 absorption. This easily handled unit exhibits higher CO2 capacity than hand filled units and therefore Molecular Products can guarantee minimum CO2 capacity. HiCapTM CO, in essence performs very similarly but is pre-filled with the well characterised catalyst Moleculite®. This material oxidises toxic CO into much less harmful CO2. Both units are manufactured using high grade polypropylene plastics that do not contain additives likely to give rise to toxic fumes associated with some inhibited materials. Additionally the HiCapTM units protect the user from direct contact with Moleculite® or Sofnolime®.
Molecular Products has received official confirmation from the West Virginia State Mines that the HiCapTM units (sent for rigorous testing) meet the stringent safety specifications in accordance with MSHA and NIOSH.
